1991 M. Sato submitted an article on SKK to 'bit', a Japanese computer science magazine. You can refer to the article (in Japanese).

1996 M. Sato moved to Kyoto University. So did SKK mailing list. Mule 2.3 (Emacs 19.34) -- This version was not officially released but widely used.
Both FSF Emacs and XEmacs implemented Mule.
1997 SKK 9.6 (02/07) -- The appearance got better than ever with color face support.
SKK 10 development started -- this was called `unofficial SKK'.
SKK now had to support all of Mule 2, Emacs 20 and XEmacs.
Emacs 20.1 (MULE 3.0) (09/14) -- Mule implementaion was not complete and incompatible with SKK 9.6. XEmacs 20.0 (02/09) 156,075 candidates

APEL was used from this point for more easily support different versions of Emacsen.
Emacs 20.3 (MULE 4.0) (08/19) -- This version was soooo unstable due to drastic changes in character handling. XEmacs 20.4 (02/23) -- SKK 10.38 was included.
Many users began to use XEmacs due to its nice GUI and unstability of FSF Emacs.

SKK Openlab started, i.e. the beginnig of Daredevil SKK.
