MailUtl3 User's Manual

POP3 proxy

First of all, suppose there are three computers such as your computer, proxy server and mail server as shown in Figure 1. A mail client is in your computer, the MailUtl3 is in the proxy server and the POP3 daemon is in the mail server. Your computer send mail command to the proxy server, the proxy server relay it to the mail server and the mail server receive the mail command. Then, mail server replies a response to your computer via the proxy server. This is a basic flow of the mail command and its response.

Do you think you need a proxy server for the MailUtl3 at your home or office? The answer is no. The MailUtl3 works in your computer as shown in Figure 2. You do not need another computer for the MailUtl3.

The MailUtl3 works not only for your computer but also for another computer as shown in Figure 3. The author confirmed the behaviour in the situation like Figure 3. However, please take care of the license agreement of other programs in your computer. It might violate the license agreement of some software, for example, anti-virus software.
